Join us at this exciting event for young artists! CREATIVE PROS: Careers in the Arts features a panel of guest speakers on hand to discuss all aspects of working in the arts including entrepreneurial opportunities, professional practice, grants and residencies. We have assembled a diverse panel of professional arts workers to answer your questions, discuss their experiences & provide you with tips & hints on how to get ahead in the industry. Be a part of this rare opportunity to access industry professionals in the arts! Hosted by the dynamic Jessie Ray of Sydney's Art Party, hear from guest speakers including:

JESSIE RAY

Jessie Ray is a multi-disciplinary artist and performer who has a wild, insatiable passion for painting, poetry, fire spinning and event management. Jessie is the brainchild behind Sydney's iconic Art Party, which she has been coordinating for the past 4 years. Jessie also works as operations manager for Create or Die, an arts organisation and studio in the heart of Marrickville. She is only about 4 foot tall, but makes up for it in bear hugs and way too much enthusiasm!

EMILYA COLLIVER
Founder and director of Art Pharmacy, Emilya has an extensive background in the visual arts having completed a degree in Art History from SOAS & UCL in London, and working for some of the top art galleries and institutions in the world, including Lisson Gallery, Hauser & Wirth, The British Museum and Eskenazi. Emilya also worked with private collector James Birch Esq for many years, looking after his vast collection of art featuring works by globally renowned artists such as Damien Hirst, Francis Bacon and Gilbert & George, to name a few.

PEDRO DE ALMEIDA
Pedro de Almeida is an arts manager, curator and writer currently acting as the programs manager at Gallery 4A. Over the past decade he has developed and delivered a broad range of artistic and cultural programs for Sydney arts organisations, including with international partners, that have been distinguished by their engagement of culturally and socially diverse artists, communities and audiences. His writing on art is published regularly, including in American Suburb X, Art Monthly Australia, Contemporary Visual Art + Culture, BROADSHEET and The Sydney Morning Herald.

MALCOLM FRAWLEY

Malcolm is a writer/director/teacher/actor with over 35 years of professional experience since graduating from the Independent Theatre School. His plays and productions have been performed extensively throughout Australia. He spent some years writing, and script editing, for TV shows that included Neighbours and E Street and script-edited the independent feature film Bitter And Twisted. Malcolm has taught acting at Excelsia College, Screenwise, Theatre Nepean (Uni of Western Sydney), A.C.T.T., Screen Actors Workshop and was co-director of NIDA's screen acting programme for Third Years from 2000-2003 (inclusive). He has been a senior member of the teaching staff at Sydney Theatre School since 2007. He has won prizes for both his plays and short fiction.

EBONY WILLIAMS
Ebony Willaims is Aboriginal producer at Carriageworks working on Solid Ground. Ebony is a Wiradjuri woman who started working in the arts industry 1998. She has worked with various Indigenous projects and companies including Bangarra Dance Theatre as Assistant Stage Manager; The NSW Centenary of Federation on "Federation Day Parade"; Public Event Group on the Opening Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games "Awakenings" the Indigenous Segment; National Indigenous Arts Advocacy Association's "Survival" Day Concerts; Stand Your Ground a project run by PACT Theatre and Gadigal Information Services "Yabun Concert". She is also a hip hop artist that has been signed to Mother Tongues, an all-female hip hop label, with tracks released in Australia, Europe and the UK.

DAVID GREENHALGH
David Greenhalgh is a Sydney-based artist and writer. Having previously completed Honours in Visual Arts at the College of Fine Arts, he is currently completing his Masters in Information Studies and Archiving at Charles Sturt University. David's artistic practices draws from both these areas by focusing on the remix of archival video to examine alternate political and historical narratives. David is the co-founding director of Archive Space, an artist run initiative that operated with the aim of documenting emerging Sydney practices.
